The Filibuster podcast is back and Ben is off of the injured reserve. He joins Adam and Jason to talk about D.C. United versus Columbus Crew SC, including what we made of the clash of styles. We talk about D.C. United’s high press, the red card to Harrison Afful and whether or not Marcelo Sarvas will be suspended, and the debut of Lloyd Sam. We end by talking about just how much D.C. United really needs a striker. We bring on Kristin Knowles from The Vocal Minority to help us preview D.C. United versus Toronto FC. We talk about the funk that Sebastian Giovinco is in, and what it feels like for TFC to have a good defense. We have to ask about their loss to 9 man San Jose, and the youngsters that Toronto has had to play these past few weeks. Jason has to ask about Maryland product Tsubasa Endoh, before Ben asks about Jozy Altidore sneaking back onto the bench. We try to offer Tally Hall to TFC (and everything breaks down), before talking about the new BMO Field and how to gameplan the Reds. Give it a listen!

We hope you had a wonderful Fourth of July, and now you can enjoy a Filibuster to take the edge off of this week. Jason, Adam, and Donald are here to put some D.C. United into your ears. They start by talking about D.C. United’s 1-1 draw with Real Salt Lake. The guys then give out some midseason grades to D.C. United players. They end the show by talking about this weekend’s game against the Philadelphia Union. Give it a listen!

Another week, another Filibuster for your ears. Jason, Adam, and Ben talk about D.C. United’s 2-0 victory over the New England Revolution and how fun it was. We discuss the midfield trio and how Fabian Espindola can play with them. We heap praise on Jalen Robinson, and ask whether or not this formation change will continue past this game. We break open the Twitterbox to answer couple of questions: the difference between good Alvaro Saborio and bad Alvaro Saborio, who Dave Kasper might target in an MLS trade, the continued transfer rumors surrounding Steve Birnbaum, and how many points are required from this road trip. We then welcome on Matt Montgomery from RSL Soapbox to talk about Real Salt Lake. We talk about their difference between home and road form, their US Open Cup lineup, and Burrito Martinez. He tells us he’s fine with RSL spreading the goalscoring wealth, talks about Justin Glad and Yura Movsysian, and Kyle Beckerman. We end with asking Matt who will be on the field given the US Open Cup, and how to gameplan RSL. Give it a listen!

It is a USA gameday, and it is a Filibuster listen day! Jason, Adam, and Ben are back to talk about a couple of D.C. United games and the USMNT. We start with the two most recent games, the US Open Cup loss to the Fort Lauderdale Strikers on penalty kicks and the 0-0 draw to the Houston Dynamo in MLS regular season play. We talk about our feelings about these two results, as well as the lack of creativity shown across the field and what they can do better. We talk about D.C. United’s formation, the debut of Jalen Robinson in MLS, and, of course, we have to talk about Chris Durkin. We then talk about tonight’s USMNT matchup against Argentina, including the changes Jurgen Klinsmann is going to have to make to both his players and maybe to his formation. We take this opportunity to crack open the Twitterbox as well to talk about potential throwback jerseys for D.C. United. After the break we bring on Kyle McCarthy of the Boston Hearld to preview D.C. United’s upcoming game against the New England Revolution. We talk about the Revs’ up and down season so far, their midfield, and how Kei Kamara has fit in with their striker corps. We talk about the play of Andrew Farrell and Lee Nguyen, whether or not Juan Agudelo will still be with the Revs at season’s end, and our old friend Charlie Davies before asking Kyle to gameplan the Revs for us. Give it a listen!

Despite D.C. United not having a game this past week, Filibuster is here for you throughout this MLS break. Ben, Jason, and Adam are here to talk about the Copa America Centenario, in which the USA have won their group. We sing the praises of John Brooks, chastise DeAndre Yedlin, and gawk at the fact that Bobby Wood was played in his correct position for a bit in this game. We also talk about the USMNT’s lineup going into the game against Ecuador, especially with Yedlin out. We then talk about a real live D.C. United game that you may or may not be able to watch unless you are at the Maryland SoccerPlex this Wednesday. United take on the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in US Open Cup play, so we talk about why we love that tournament and what lineups we want to see. We walk down memory lane with all of the former D.C. United players on the Strikers, and ask Jason to preview what we should expect from them. After the break, we bring on Alicia Tolar of Dynamo Theory to talk about United's weekend game against the Houston Dynamo. We ask what happened to the Dyanmo after their fun start, as well as their replacement of Owen Coyle with Wade Barrett. We ask about the spine of their team, their defensive midfielder and center backs, before talking about their best player so far this season: Andrew Wenger. We ask about United killer Will Bruin, the mysterious case of Cubo Torres, and the not so mysterious case of why they traded Brad Davis. Finally, we have to ask about Angry Joe Willis before having Alicia gameplan the Dynamo for us. Give it a listen!

Even though D.C. United is off this week, the Filibuster crew is not. We have to talk about the very disappointing Seattle loss, much as we would like to forget it. We talk about whether or not this trend of play over the past few games worries us, and talk about the play of Luciano Acosta versus Fabian Espindola in this game. We then spend a good chunk of time talking about what we want to see United work on during this break, to hopefully take advantage of the very poor Eastern Conference and rise to the top. We then bring on Kevin McCauley from SBNation.com to talk about the Copa America Centenaro. Just like in the first segment, we have to talk about disappointment first and the USA. We talk about the ridiculousness that is Clint Dempsey as a center forward, the defensive breakdowns across the team, and weather Darlington Nagbe should start. We discuss why Michael Bradley didn't do well in this game, and whether DeAndre Yedlin is playing bad or being asked to play bad. We look forward to Costa Rica, ask Kevin whether he thinks Mexico will win this whole tournament, and ask if the United States will get out of their group. Give it a listen!

With a game this Wednesday, D.C. United is back on their regular Tuesday to help you get all the info you need. Jason, Ben, and Adam start by reviewing D.C. United's 1-0 victory over Sporting Kansas City, and start with the wonderfulness that was Alhaji Kamara's goal. We ask whether the team we saw in Philadelphia and Kansas City is true D.C. United right now, and we show some love to the return of Bill Hamid. We end the first segment by talking about Luciano Acosta and Fabian Espindola and what the latter has to do to fit in the with the rest of the team. We transition quckily into the Copa America Centenario, which starts this weekend. We ask whether or not the United States are going to be OK and talk about, of course, all of the players that Jurgen is playing out of position. We get out of the segment before we get too mad at Jurgen, but we truly do want him to confound us and do well at the Copa. Finally, we bring on Dave Clark from Sounder at Heart to preview United's midweek matchup with the Seattle Sounders. We ask what is going on with the Sounders attack as well as about Brad Evans and the stingy defense. We also ask about Andrea Ivanschitz, we have to ask about Jordan Morris, and wonder if there will be any rotation for this East Coast trip. We end by asking about some veterans on the team, Osvaldo Alonso and Herculez Gomez, before exploring whether or not Sigi Schmid is on the hot seat and how Dave would gameplan Seattle for United. Give it a listen!

Have no fear, your weekly recommended dose of Filibuster is here. Jason, Ben, and Adam are back to talk about D.C. United and hope that things get better. We talk about D.C. United's 1-0 loss to the Philadelphia Union, and have to start with the goal that did them in. We talk about how the team has no natural finishers on it, and talk for far too long about the non-issue that was Luciano Acosta being subbed off. We talk about Alvaro Saborio and Steve Birnbaum being called up and what that will mean for United, and then talk about the transfer rumors swirling around Birnbaum. We then move onto this Friday's (yes, three Fridays in a row) game against Sporting Kansas City. We discuss whether or not this is the same old Sporks team, and whether Peter Vermes' shouty message is beginning to fall on deaf ears. We talk about the players that they will be missing for the Copa America, what their game plan will be, and whether or not they can beat D.C. United on set pieces. Give it a listen!

With a win in this year's Atlantic Cup already notched, the Filibuster crew is here to talk about it. Adam, Ben, and Jason are here to talk about whether D.C. United's game against the New York Red Bulls was the most complete performance of the year. We talk about the contrasting styles of the Red Bulls' tactics versus D.C. United's tactics, the out of character game by referee Silviu Petrescu, and we compare the difference between this year's central midfield (Marcelo Sarvas and Nick DeLeon) versus last year's central midfield (Davy Arnaud and Perry Kitchen). Finally, we talk about whether Fabian Espindola should replace Alvaro Saborio, and thank Jesse Marsch for leaving Lloyd Sam on the bench. We then welcome on Eugene Rupinski from Brotherly Game to talk about United's Friday matchup against the Philadelphia Union. We have to start by asking about Chris Pontius, before marvelling that the Union are good so far this year. We ask Eugene what the biggest thing is that is working for the team right, and ask him to shed some light on their defensive rookies, Keegan Rosenberry and Josh Yaro. We address the Union's central midfield, the selection of players Earnie Stewart has created, and how Bethlehem Steel is working. And, before we say goodbye to Eugene and ask him to gameplan the Union, we had to ask him about Zlatan. Give it a listen!
