Filibuster is back for your holiday travel listen…

Filibuster is back for your holiday travel listening needs! It is an all stadium episode, because we just had to dedicate an entire show to the biggest news in D.C. United's history. We talk about the vote itself, whether or not we expected it to be unanimous, and when we are all going to run out to Buzzard Point with our tools and bricks to just start building. We also talk about the road that lead D.C. United here, including Poplar Point and Prince George's County, and how this ended being probably the best possible location that United could have ever gotten (and therefore worth the wait). We talk about two key figures in the history of the stadium deal, Muriel Bowser and Kevin Payne, before moving onto the building itself and what we want to see in a new stadium. Finally, we talk about Brian Straus' article about the history of the stadium deal, and talk about whether or not we want to see United update their brand as they enter their new home. This is probably our last episode for 2014, so give it a listen!

We're going to show those Serial people how it's done

Adam is out with some sort of goat flu, and some Ben and Jason welcome Ryan back to the podcast and then things quickly spiral out of control. We first talk about the D.C. United stadium deal, which is on the agenda for Wednesday's City Council meeting. If it passes, it would be the most important thing to happen in D.C. United's history, so we talk about it for a bit. When then move into a D.C. United news roundup, talking about Fabian Espindola's red card, United's options for while he is out, and the Concacaf Champions League overall. Then, over Jason's protests, we talk a little bit about the bad game that was the College Cup and Virginia's victory. We then move into the MLS Expansion Draft and talk about the two players that D.C. United lost: LEWIS NEAL and Tommy McNamara. We talk about what we get for them, who we could have lost, how this compared to what we thought was going to happen, and other notable players taken by Orlando City SC and New York City FC. We also break in to talk about the newest Garth Lagerway news dropped by Twitter oracle Taylor Twellman. Finally, we bust open the Twitterbox and talk about who could possibly vote against Chris Rolfe and what kind of player we want D.C. United to pursue with their GarberBucks. It's a wacky one so give it a listen!

If you want to get really obscure

Monday was the single busiest day in MLS this season, and the Filibuster team is here to help walk you through everything that happened. We talk about the international roster spots that D.C. United traded to both Orlando City SC and NYCFC in exchange for GarberBucks. the trade with the Houston Dynamo for Andrew Driver and a draft pick in exchange for Joe Willis and Samuel Inkoom, the contract options that were declined, Jeff Parke specifically, and the names that are on D.C. United's protected list. We then talk about actual soccer on the field, going back to MLS Cup between the LA Galaxy and New England Revolution. We break down the game by going through the three goals, and talk about Robbie Keane's performance overall. We go around MLS in this offseason so far, and talk about the defenders Orlando City has acquired, which expansion team we think is doing a better job so far, and what is going on with Sporting Kansas City. We end the episode going through the expansion draft protected lists of all the other MLS teams to see who OCSC and NYCFC might be taking on Wednesday. Give it a listen!

We are delayed by a day, but don't worry, Filibuster is back. We start off by talking about the MLS Cup Playoffs and with the New England Revolution vs. New York Red Bulls. We talk about whether or not this series matched our expecations, Tim Cahill replacing Bradley Wright-Phillips, and the tactics of the two teams. We then move into Seattle Sounders vs. LA Galaxy, and wonder how the Sounders lost that series and take a look at the performances overall. We close by talking about MLS Cup and who we think (and hope) will win. We then talk about the D.C. United stadium plan and the DC Council for a long time, including using such words as "supplemental budget" and "first reading." We try to walk you through what actually happened yesterday and what it means for the team. We then talk about the MLS Best XI, which features two D.C. United players in Bill Hamid and Bobby Boswell, as well as talking about MLS Coach of the Year Ben Olse. Finally, we end the show with some Goat or Fox on Jared Jeffrey, Samuel Inkoom, and Eddie Johnson. Give it a listen!

It is Tuesday and so that means that Filibuster is back once again, to hopefully help your Thanksgiving commutes. We start by talking about the MLS Playoffs and that means talking about New England Revolution vs. New York Red Bulls. We talk about the refereeing, offside calls, Bradley Wright-Phillips' yellow card, and whether or not this Revs would have a chance against either team from the West. Speaking of the West, we then move to talk about LA Galaxy vs. Seattle Sounders. We talk about whether or not we would want Marcelo Sarvas for D.C. United, the gameplay between the first and second matches, and Kevin Stott's comments. Finally, we open the Twitterbox and talk about Thomas McNamara, briefly mention that there will be lots of stadium news today, go through the Cake or death posts so far on the site (and turn them into goat or fox), talk about fullbacks, and end with our Thanksgiving food and beverage pairing for hatewatching the rest of the playoffs. Give it a listen!

It is Tuesday, so that means it must be Filibuster day! Adam, Jason, and Ben are all back in your ears to talk about D.C. United and the upcoming expansion draft. We go through some of the key players on D.C. United's roster and give our opinions on whether or not the team should use a protected slot on them. We then welcome Alicia Rodriguez of The Goat Parade to the show to talk about the Chivas USA dispersal draft. We talk about a number of players that D.C. United could possibly get in the draft, such as Marky Delgado, Thomas McNamara, Andrew Jean-Baptiste, Oswaldo Minda, Danny Toia, and Marvin Chavez. We even talk about Dan Kennedy, even though there is no chance he comes to D.C. United. Finally, we go around MLS and look at the upcoming playoff games this weekend, even though Ben can only predict series results and not individual games. Give it a listen!
